Good Times!

Today's ride was extraordinary. You'll have to take my word on this because I neglected to turn Strava on.
The ride was simple - continue south on Alaska Hwy 1 until I reach Eagle River, then figure out where Scott and Bev live. I had the address, I had the GPS, The Girls were talking to me, no problem.
There was not a cloud in the sky as I exited Grizzly Lake RV  park on an empty stomach. I was about 53 miles north of Glenallen where I was reasonably sure I could find a place serving up breakfast.
Mt. Sanford stood out in the morning sun. At 16,237 feet it is one of the tallest peaks in the Wrangell - St. Alias National Park.
As I travelled south I eventually came to Glenallen, where my cousin Elaine was the Postmaster for many years. When I had asked her for a recommended place to eat she seemed to think nothing would still be in existence. She knew what she was talking about! I saw remnants of businesses past, but only found one place open, the Fireweed Restaurant. It seems that Glenallen has fallen on hard times. When I stopped for gas and asked the attendant for a recommendation for a place to eat, she told me to ride another hour down the road before I stopped! The Fireweed Restaurant was just fine though. Good service, friendly waitress, highly edible food.
The ride south from there kept getting better and better, but the weather was deteriorating. Even though I had to dodge rainstorms I managed to get some pictures of the Chugach Mountains and one of its several glaciers.

I decided to pull off the road during one brief rainstorm when I found myself riding with near-zero visibility and trying to avoid rocks in a slide area that peppered the road with baseball sized boulders.
The scenery was spectacular through Palmer and all the way to Scott and Bev's back deck.
Good times with old friends, new friends and some inbetween friends.

Now it's a couple of days of down time, do some hiking, visiting and planning before deciding my next move(s)! I have a couple of ideas so we'll see which ones come to fruition.
